Lisa Lynn (Robinson) Gentry, 62, a loving and devoted wife, mother, and mamaw, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026. Her life was a testament to love and family, as she cherished her role in nurturing those around her, especially her grandchildren, whom she adored with all her heart. Lisa had a profound impact on many lives, serving as a foster mother to numerous individuals, embodying the spirit of compassion and kindness, and never meeting a child that she did not love.
Born on September 4, 1963, to Malcolm, Sr. and Edna (Woodall) Robinson, Lisa was raised in a family that cultivated her strong values and faith. This faith was evident in how she embraced everyone she met, often leaving a lasting impression with her warmth and welcoming nature.
Lisa had a particular fondness for the Great Smoky Mountains. The trips she took to this beautiful landscape were filled with joy and appreciation for nature's wonders, moments she treasured along with her loved ones.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Gentry, Sr.; her sons, D.J. Gentry (Rishea), Michael Gentry, Jr. (April), and Joshua Gentry (Savannah); and her grandchildren, Cassandra, Gracie, Faith, Logan, Peyton, Summer, Rachel, Emily, Matthew, Hailey, Landon, Kloey and Trenton. Lisa's legacy also includes her siblings, Roxanne, Malcolm Jr., Denny (Theresa), Terri, Erica, Eric, Michael Timothy, Melissa and Ruth Ellen; her sisters-in-law, Cindy (Bailey), Diane; and her brothers-in-law, Doug, David and Troy. Additionally, she leaves behind cherished nieces and nephews, Dustin, Shawn, Chasity, Scott, Kayla, Aaron, Denny Jr. and Mark.
Lisa is also survived by many extended family members and friends. Her immediate family wishes to apologize in advance if anyone's name was left out.
Lisa was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Danny Paul, and her brother-in-law, Scott Doty.
A gathering of family and friends will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 12, 2026 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and continue on Tuesday after 9:00 a.m. A funeral service celebrating Lisa's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
