Linda Kay (McKee) Ridoux, 72, died peacefully in her home Monday, August 19, 2019, in Louisville Kentucky, after a long battle with the rare neurological syndrome Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA). She is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years, John F. Ridoux.
Born in Wabash County Hospital, Linda was raised in the small rural northern Indiana town of Argos. She lived on the farm with her family and was very active in 4H growing up. An excellent student, she graduated from Argos High School in 1964, and attended Indiana University where she received a B.S. in Elementary Education in 1968. She was a member of Alpha Phi sorority and co-founded the Epsilon Beta chapter of Alpha Phi at Butler University, where her daughter was also an Alpha Phi. She met her future husband John at IU, and they were married August 17, 1968, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Plymouth, Indiana.
Their first home together was in a family cottage on Lake Maxinkuckee in Culver, Indiana. Linda taught in the Argos school system while John was serving in Vietnam with the US Army Security Agency. They lived in Massachusetts and Maryland during John's military service from 1969 - 1972. They returned to Indianapolis from 1972 to 1980, and lived in Evansville, Indiana, briefly before settling in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1981, where she resided until her death.
Linda was a wonderful homemaker and talented seamstress. She enjoyed making beautiful draperies for her home as well as upholstering and refinishing furniture. In addition to teaching, Linda tutored students in her home in all levels of math from first grade to Calculus for 20 years. Her passion for teaching children led her to found St. Luke's Preschool in 1996. She started the school with five students, and this number continued to grow to nearly a hundred in the time she was there. She taught and served as Director of the preschool until 2006, when her illness prevented her from continuing.
Her family and friends will remember Linda as a beautiful, brave, talented and intelligent woman. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who made life fun. She never wasted a moment and did everything with joy, enthusiasm and laughter.
In addition to her husband, Linda will be lovingly missed by her son, Brett (Lee) Ridoux, Carmel, IN; daughter Meghan (Steve) Bodenberg, Carmel, IN; sister, Marlyne (Bob) DeLong, Seattle, WA; brothers Ed (Liz) Mckee, Lovelady, TX; and Larry McKee, Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Jay and Gabriel Ridoux, Carmel, IN; and Anna and Nathan Bodenberg, Carmel, IN; sisters-in-law Ann (Mike) Miles, Carmel, IN and Marty (Frank) Ridoux, Kokomo, IN.
