Linda Hardy Norman, a beloved figure in both her professional and personal life, passed away on July 18, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky, surrounded by her husband and dear friends. Born on August 17, 1953, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Linda’s journey was marked by profound dedication to her career and passion for animal welfare.
A proud graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, Linda built a commendable career in social work. She served as the executive director of the Mental Health Association of Orange County, New York, where she made a lasting impact on the community. Earlier in her career, Linda worked at the Hazelwood Intensive Care Facility for the Mentally Challenged in Louisville, Kentucky, where her compassion and commitment to helping those in need were remarkable.
Linda's love for animals was a defining aspect of her personality. A true advocate for their welfare, she adopted around 20 abandoned and abused dogs, providing them with a safe haven and a loving home. Her deep compassion extended beyond animals, as she was actively involved in her community as the treasurer of the Tom Sawyer Dog Park, a member of Flower Buds (a charitable organization), and a volunteer for GRRAND Golden Retriever Rescue.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Ronald "Ron" Norman, and her family, which includes her sister, Susan Hardy Talley, and her husband, Gary; her nephews, Hunter Talley and his wife, Amanda, and Luke Talley; and her favorite niece, Kelley Baertsch and her husband, Nick.
Linda was preceded in death by her father, James Joyce Hardy, III, and her mother, Patricia Campbell Hardy. Her nurturing spirit and unwavering kindness will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Linda’s legacy of compassion will continue to inspire those she touched throughout her life.
Per Linda's wishes, no public service will be held. Memorial donations in Linda's honor may be made to GRRAND Golden Retriever Rescue.
