Linda Hunter

Linda Hunter, née Mizell, passed away peacefully at home on September 28, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. She was born on October 22, 1944, in Waycross, Georgia, and will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, and friend whose life was marked by devotion to family, faith, and community.

Throughout her life, Linda built a path defined by determination and care for others. She attended Andrew Jackson High School in Jacksonville, Florida, and went on to continue her studies at Florida Community College in Jacksonville and the University of North Florida. Completing her education was one of the accomplishments she held with special pride, reflecting the persistence and commitment that shaped so much of her life.

Linda worked as a teller at Barnett Bank in Florida and later served as Office Manager at Scandiafelt NA. Alongside her professional life, she embraced one of her most important callings as a mother. She was known as someone feisty and loving, a stickler for details, and a generous presence in her community. Her warmth and strength touched many, and she will be deeply missed by her church family, where she found a faith community in which she truly felt at home.

She also found joy in life’s quieter blessings. Linda enjoyed crocheting and Bible study, pursuits that reflected both her creativity and her deep faith. Among the milestones she treasured most were completing her education, marrying the man of her dreams, and finding a church family where she belonged.

Linda was preceded in death by, Stanley Hunter, her beloved husband of 53 years and 13 anniversaries, and by her brothers, Hubert Mizell and James Mizell, and two great-grandchildren.

She leaves behind a loving family who will carry her memory forward with gratitude and love. She is survived by her daughters, Michelle Clayton and Lisa Watson. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Destiny, Jill, Cori, C.J., and Bekah, and by 10 great-grandchildren, all of whom were part of the family circle she cherished so deeply. Her love, generosity, and steadfast spirit will remain a lasting gift to those who knew her.

Linda’s life was one of faith, family, and perseverance. She will be remembered for her strong spirit, her careful nature, her generous heart, and the love she gave so freely to those around her. May her memory bring comfort to her family, her friends, and her church community in the days ahead.
