Linda Diane Shipp Thompson was born Nov. 1, 1951 to Elaine and Claude Shipp, who preceded her in death. She transitioned to paradise and is now in the presence of our faithful God.
She leaves to mourn her passing her husband of 48 years, John Thompson, her loving siblings Carolyn (Danny) Nichols, Wayne (Effie) Shipp, Mardell (Micheal) Redd and Darnell Shipp. She also leaves aunts, uncles, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Diane was a devoted wife, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend. She was known for her wonderful sense of humor and ability to make others laugh.
She gave her life to Christ as a child at Buffalo Baptist Church and was a faithful member. Diane was the first African American female to graduate from the integrated Hart County High School in 1969. One of her greatest joys was camping with her husband and friends creating special memories filled with laughter, fellowship and the beauty of the outdoors.
Diane was well loved by many but a special thank you goes to Carolyn, Danny, George, Pam, Effie and Wayne for the many trips you made to the doctor, store, facility etc. making sure she had everything she needed. You are appreciated, and your kindness and care will always be remembered.
Diane is absent from her body and present with the Lord. Her love, laughter and warm spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Monday, June 29, 2026 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy).
