Linda Gale Cornish, born on May 14, 1949, in Louisville, Kentucky, departed this life on May 21, 2025, also in Louisville. Her journey came to a peaceful conclusion surrounded by the love and care she often extended to others throughout her lifetime.
Linda's professional career was one of service and compassion. As a talented cosmetologist at JC Penny’s, she provided beauty and care to many, showcasing her skills and creativity. Additionally, Linda was a dedicated caregiver at Norton Children's Hospital, where her nurturing spirit shone brightly in her interactions with children and their families.
Throughout her life, Linda embraced a variety of hobbies and interests that reflected her vibrant character. A passionate bowler and softball player, she enjoyed engaging in these sports and shared her love for physical activity with friends and family. In her 50s, she took on the impressive role of lifeguard, a testament to her dedication to safety and well-being. Her fondness for children was evident, as she lovingly babysat many over the years, leaving a lasting impression on their lives and nurturing their growth.
Linda was not just a caregiver to children but also had a special bond with her canine companion, Mae-Lei, who was her faithful friend for 16 years. Their companionship brought her joy and comfort.
She is survived by her loving son, Brian K. Cornish (Karrie); her cherished daughter, Amber L. Cornish; her devoted sister, Pamela Petitt; and her beloved nephew, Robert Medley. Additionally, Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Barbara York, who undoubtedly influenced the caring and compassionate woman she became.
A visitation to honor Linda's life will take place on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville, located at 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky, 40243.
Linda Gale Cornish leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to those she cared for. She will be remembered affectionately by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
