Listen to Obituary

With hearts full of reverence and remembrance, we mark the passing of Linda Lee Armstrong, whose radiant spirit departed this world on August 13, 2026, in her beloved hometown of Louisville, Kentucky. Born on March 12, 1944, in the very city she would come to cherish and enliven for eighty-two remarkable years, Linda’s life stands as a testament to warmth, faith, and familial devotion.

A faithful woman of God, Linda was the very embodiment of love, life, and laughter. She possessed a heart resplendent with generosity—never withholding her acceptance or compassion from a soul. Those who crossed her path, whether bound by blood or by friendship, felt the quiet assurance of her welcome and the lightness of her joyful spirit. Linda’s presence was not just that of a family member; she was the steadfast thread that tied together generations, and it is certain that a lasting piece of her will live in us forever.

Linda’s devotion to her family anchored her life. She was the foundation around which her loved ones gathered, and her pride in those she held dear was matched only by the love she poured into every nurturing gesture. In both celebrated milestones and the simple rhythms of daily life, Linda’s unwavering support and guidance were the sturdy ground beneath her family’s feet.

Rooted deeply in the beauty of nature, Linda found solace and delight in gardening. She cherished the memories that came with camping trips, where fresh air, open skies, and laughter echoed around campfires. Her artistic gifts further enriched her world: Linda was a gifted musician, skillfully playing the piano and violin, and her love of song filled homes and hearts with music’s timeless joy.

To speak of Linda is to recall not only her many passions but also her faithfulness and the daily grace with which she moved through life. Each person who knew her was touched, in some compassionate way, by her boundless capacity for kindness. Her legacy is written not just in cherished memories but in the enduring love she instilled in those closest to her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Barry Armstrong; parents, Bonnie and Marie Hodges; grandson, Michael Barth; son-in-law, Doug McDonald; daughter-in-law, Susan Armstrong; siblings, Spurgeon, David, Sandy, Mary Ann, Billy and Jimmy.

Linda leaves behind to cherish her memories, her children, Bonnie McDonald, Ronnie (Julie) Meredith, Patti Doyle, Angie (Mike) Burress, Tracy Widman, Barry (Stacy Schuley) Armstrong, Jr., Brandi (Brian) Carney; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and one on the way; a great-great-grandson; siblings, Bonnie Griffin, Bettie Carpenter, Leona Rankin, Bennie Hodges, and Sherri Lybrand and a host of nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to gather in shared remembrance at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville, 10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40272. Visitation will be held on August 21, 2026, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a funeral service beginning at 6:00 PM, as we come together to honor Linda’s life, her unwavering faith, and the joy she so selflessly offered to us all.

We find comfort in knowing that Linda’s boundless love and resilient spirit will echo through generations, forever entwined with those blessed to have known her—a legacy as enduring as the gardens she lovingly nurtured, as uplifting as a song played by gentle, gifted hands.
