Lillian "Jeanne" (Callahan) Der Ohanian, 94, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021. She was the Vice President and Co-owner of Stapel Inzer Heating and Air Conditioning. Jeanne was also a life-long member of Park Christian Church and a member of the Eastern Star. She was known for her famous rice pilaf, was an avid fan of the New Albany Bulldogs, and loved her family deeply.
She was born on April 28, 1926, in Salem, Indiana, to Eugene and Emma Ruth (Dietz) Callahan. In addition to her parents, Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Der Ohanian; daughter, Peggy Barrett; and great-grandson, Gavin Beck.
Jeanne is survived by her children, T. Dian Phillips, Robert Der Ohanian (Sharon), Rebecca Der Ohanian Floyd, and Ruth Fondrisi (Joe); grandchildren, Shanna Beck (Adam), Matthew Phillips (Crystal), Miranda Nickel (Jeff), Robert Dane Der Ohanian (Marissa), David Hinkebein, Jeffery Hinkebein (Hollee), Sarah Rufing (Troy), Kimberly Daily (Travis), Katherine Fondrisi, and Kelly Fondrisi; and ten great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Jeanne will be laid to rest privately at Fairview Cemetery in New Albany.
