Lewis Alvin Rogers, 69, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2016. He was a United States Army veteran and retired from Sentinel Truck Line. Lewis enjoyed fishing as well as participating in shooting matches. He was a provider and father figure to many over the years. He will leave a void that can never be filled.
He was born on June 17, 1947 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Charles, Jr. and Esther (Adock) Rogers. Lewis was also preceded in death by his son, John Rogers; daughter-in-law, Dana Best; brother, Charles Rogers III; and parents-in-law, John, Sr. and Evelyn Bline.
Lewis is survived by his wife of 48 years, Betty (Bline) Rogers; children, John Best (Rexene), Jake Rogers, Carol Voetelink (Gerard), Stephen Rogers (Jennifer), William "Tim" Rogers, Nick Rogers (Barbara); sisters, Frances Tuell (David), Roberta Luther; daughters-in-law, Monique and Debra; 20 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 12 PM to 8 PM Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana) and on Friday after 11 AM. His Funeral Service will take place at 1 PM Friday at the funeral home with burial and military honors to follow at Evans Landing Cemetery.
