Listen to Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Leslie Martin Hancock, a cherished soul who graced this world from August 7, 1947, until January 16, 2026. Born in Louisville, KY, Leslie was a shining light in the lives of her family and friends, leaving a legacy of love and warmth that will forever be remembered.

Her journey through life saw her take on many roles, each of them filled with her signature care and dedication. She was a 1965 graduate of J.M. Atherton High School and received her professional degree as a Medical Secretary from Southern Business College. From being a devoted stay-at-home mom to managing Kiwi Carpet Cleaning and a former Loan Officer, Leslie poured her heart into everything she did. Yet, it was her role as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother that truly defined her spirit. Together with her beloved husband, Clarence Hancock, whom she shared 40 wonderful years of marriage with, she built a life filled with laughter, adventure, and deep affection. The bond between Leslie and Clarence was a beautiful testament to the power of love – she was the light of his life, as he so often expressed.

Leslie possessed not just beauty but also a generous heart. She had an innate ability to make everyone around her feel special and cared for. Friends and family regarded her as a reliable confidante, someone they could always count on in times of need. Her nurturing nature extended beyond her family to her adored fur babies, reflecting her love for all living creatures.

Leslie's days were often filled with the joys of crocheting and needlepoint, crafting tangible pieces of art that would bring smiles to those fortunate enough to receive them. She also found immense pleasure in cheering for her Kansas City Chiefs, passionately displaying her loyalty to her team. And of course, weekends spent riding motorcycles alongside Clarence were some of her happiest moments, allowing her the wind in her hair and the thrill of adventure.

Leslie is survived by her loving husband, Clarence; her son, Michael Gaylor, and daughters, Melissa and Melinda; and several cherished grandchildren. Together, they will carry forward her remarkable spirit, holding tight to the sweet memories and the indelible mark she left on their lives.

As we gather to celebrate the life of this extraordinary woman, we invite those who loved her to join us in honoring her memory. The visitation will be held on Sunday, January 25th, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life at 4:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville, located at 10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY.

In our hearts, Leslie will remain a beacon of kindness and strength, cherished forever by all who knew and loved her. Her love, laughter, and limitless compassion will be missed but never forgotten.
