Leroy Neil Berrier Sr., born in Hartford City, Indiana on October 21, 1924, passed away on May 1st, 2015. He is survived by his sisters Paula and Martha, and his children Leroy Neil Berrier, Jr.(Terry), Penny Marie Lynch(Russell), Kimberly Ann Pitman (Todd), Derrick Lee Berrier (Kathy);8 grandchildren, Jeffery Stewart, Jacob Lynch, Christopher Berrier, Jonathan Berrier, Jessie Lynch, Allisia Pitman, Collin Pitman and Destiny Berrier,2 great-grandchildren, Madeline Berrier and Kylee Lynch.
Leroy is preceded in death by his parents, Laprode Marie and Roy Clarence Berrier of Montpilier, In, brother Gilbert Matthew Berrier, sisters Faith Clark, Jessie Sutton, Mary Warren, his wife of 62 years, Martha Ann Berrier, and a daughter Barbara Ann Berrier.
At the age of 18, Roy began his Military Service with the US Army in August, 1943 thru Feb, 1946 and again in June 1951 thru 1953. A World War II Veteran of the 171th Engr Combat Battalion, Roy received an American Theater Ribbon, EAME Theater Ribbon with three Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal with 1 Bronze Cluster, and a Victory Medal World War II. As with most WWII Veterans, he rarely spoke of the war.
Roy was a retired salaried employee of Ford Motor Company where he was a business analyst. Roy enjoyed a simple life of Gospel Music, baseball , wood-crafting, travel and word puzzles. Roy was blessed to have wonderful and caring caregivers at the end of his life by Sandy, Rhonda, Faith, Kera and Allen. Leroy was a loving husband and a caring father and will be greatly missed.
His private graveside service will be at Port Royal Cemetery in Kentucky on Friday, May 8th, 2015.
