Leonard "Bruce" Weickel

Leonard "Bruce" Weickel, age 77 of Fisherville, Kentucky passed away on Monday, June 30, 2025.  Bruce was born on December 25, 1947 to the late Leonard Joseph and Estell Knight Weickel.  He was a father, a brother, an uncle and a man of quiet strength and deep integrity.  To those who knew him, Bruce was a steady presence - the kind of man who didn't need to raise his voice to be heard.  He taught through example and hard work, honor, loyalty and love.  Whether in uniform or at home, he stood for something greater than himself.  

Bruce served his country in the US Army from 1968 to 1970, then in the US Army Reserves until 1974.  As an 11D20 Armor Intelligence Specialist, he was part of the 1st US Army, HHC 1st Battalion, 63 Armor Regiment and honorably discharged after serving with valor.  

Bruce leaves behind to cherish his memory a family who loved and respected him dearly, his sons, Soctt Weickel (Stacie), Adam Weickel and Steven Pottinger (Tiffany); sisters, Marlene Handy and Barbara Brown (Rob); and a proud legacy of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry his memory forward with love and pride.  

Visitation will be from 10am to 12pm on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243.  A family sharing of Bruce's life will take place there at 12pm, followed by burial at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, 2501 N. Dixie Blvd, Radcliff, Kentucky at 2:30pm with military honors.
