Leon Irvin Bowell, 83, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2015. He was a United States Air Force veteran that proudly served his nation during the Korean War. Leon was a member of the American Legion Post 204 in Sellersburg, Indiana. He retired from Dance Oil Company as a service manager, and after retirement enjoyed being a vendor at various local flea markets.
He was born on September 8, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan to the late John and Ruth (True) Bowell. Leon was also preceded in death by his son, Brad Bowell. He is survived by his daughter, Angela Burgin-Baumberger (Andrew); granddaughter, Alex Burgin; and great-granddaughter, Avery Mills.
Cremation was chosen following Leon's wishes. A Graveside Service with military honors will take place at 11 AM on Friday, July 24, 2015 at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
Contributions in Leon's memory may be made to Bethany Christian Church (9007 Highway 62, Charlestown, IN 47111).
