Leo Roy Underwood, 82 passed away peacefully on Friday, May 8, 2015. He was a United States Army veteran and a career farmer. Roy was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Salem.

Roy was born on January 17, 1933 in Harrison County, Indiana to the late Lee and Gertrude (Knight) Underwood. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Martha (Schmidt) Underwood; daughter, Vicky Underwood; son, David Underwood; and siblings, William Underwood, Helen Hembrough, and Sylvia Hampton.

He is survived by his daughters, Sharon Ward (Stanley), Becky Ledbetter, Denise Sowder (Terry); daughter-in-law, Ellen Underwood; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 4 PM to 8 PM Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Thursday after 9 AM. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM Thursday at St. Mary's Navilleton Catholic Church with burial and military honors to follow in the church cemetery.

Contributions in Roy's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105) or to the American Diabetes Association (161 St. Matthews Avenue, Suite 3, Louisville, KY 40207).
