Leland Kenneth "Poppy" Pendleton, age 87 of Louisville, passed away Friday, December 26, 2014. He was a proud graduate of Manual High School and a WWII Navy Veteran. While in the service, he played for the undefeated South Pacific Baseball Champions. He also volunteered and took park in the atomic bomb testing in the Bikini Atols. He was a dedicated member of Westport Road Baptist Church. He was an honest, hardworking, self-employed, innovative businessman for over 55 years. Kenneth was the best father, grandfather and friend to many, who will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Ineda; his parents, James Napoleon "Pole" and Mary Georgia Pendleton; 4 sisters and 5 brothers; and son-in-law, Jeff McDonald.
Kenneth is survived by loving children, Sarita, Chip and his wife Dawn, and Karina; 3 grandchildren, Damen, Alyssa and Andrew; brothers, Carl "Jack" Pendleton and Boyd Douglas Pendleton; and a host of family and friends.
Funeral ceremony will be 11am Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Westport Road Baptist Church, 9705 Westport Road, Louisville, Ky., with burial to follow in Floydsburg Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday, and after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday until time of service.
