Lawrence Robert Stevenson Jr.

Lawrence Robert "Steve" Stevenson, Jr., age 88, of Valley Station, passed away on Thursday April 9, 2015 at Hosparus In-Patient Care Center following an extended illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at 11:00am in the Chapel of Newcomer Funeral Home – Southwest. Mr. Jerome Frandle, Ms. Dorothy Lehman and Ms. Linda Diaz will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00am until time of service.

Mr. Stevenson was born March 3, 1927 in Louisville, to the late Lawrence Robert Stevenson, Sr. and Matilda Springer Stevenson. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and retired from South Central Bell. Steve was of the non-denominational faith and was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Joe Stevenson.

Mr. Stevenson is survived by his wife of 50 years, Alline Huff Stevenson of Valley Station; 6 children, Diane (Rod) Reprogle of Lebanon, TN; Dennis (Tammy) Stevenson of Louisville; Becky (Donnie) Stephens of Cornelia, GA; Denise (Fred) Remines of Louisville; Izetta Lynn (Al) Bengston of Lula, GA; and Laura (Shawn) Spencer of Whitehall, MT; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Jean Axman of Louisville; brothers Kenny Stevenson and Frankie Stevenson both of Louisville; and numerous other relatives.
