Lawrence Mattingly, Jr.

November 3, 1927 — May 17, 2015

Lawrence Mattingly, Jr., age 87, of Louisville, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2015. He worked in the business of building roadway bridges, and built many of the state and federal highway bridges in Kentucky. In retirement he especially enjoyed playing golf and spoiling his grandchildren. He was a member of Westport Road Church of Christ, Wildwood Country Club and was also a Kentucky Colonel.

Mr. Mattingly is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Marion Sadler Mattingly; daughter, Patricia Lynn Mattingly Williams (Ernest); grandsons, Patrick McClure Williams (Keri), Joseph Mattingly Williams (Tacie Steidel, fiance') and Clay Lawrence Williams (Erica); great-grandchildren, Maggie Elaine Williams and Sadler McClure Williams; brothers, Jimmy Mattingly (Mae) and Sam Mattingly (Lynn); sister, Joan Dennis; and a host of relatives and friends.
Mr. Mattingly was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Mattingly, Sr. and Lura Huff Mattingly; and his son, William Lawrence "Larry" Mattingly.

Visitation will be 11am-1pm Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Westport Road Church of Christ 4500 Westport Road Louisville, KY 40207 with service to follow at 1pm. Entombment will follow the service at Resthaven Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Westport Road Church of Christ Building Fund.
