Listen to Obituary

Lawrence “Larz” Lyons, Jr., of Louisville, passed away on October 5, 2026, in Louisville. He was born on April 14, 1961, in Louisville.

Larz will be remembered as a man who found joy in both the everyday and the personal connections that made life meaningful. He graduated from Bishop David High School and went on to work as a barber at Lyons Den Barbershop, where his presence and work became part of the rhythm of the community he served. He was someone who loved to cook for those around him, and sharing food was one of the many ways he showed care. He also loved listening to and enjoying music, and he took pleasure in tinkering with things and fixing them. In quieter moments, he enjoyed playing video games, especially Call of Duty.

Family was an important part of Larz’s life. He is survived by his daughter, Alana Lyons; his father, Lawrence "Larry" Lyons, Sr. (Tandy); his sister, Judi Franklin (David); and his brother, Sean Lyons (Donna). He is also remembered by Rockz and Astra, his beloved grandcats, who were part of the circle of affection surrounding him. Each of them carries forward memories of his company, his interests, and the many simple acts of care that marked his life.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Linda Pullen.

Larz’s life was rooted in Louisville, the city where he was born and where he died, and his memory will remain with those who knew him, worked alongside him, and loved him. May he be remembered with gratitude, affection, and peace.
