Lawrence "Larry" Wayne Moffett Sr.

Lawrence “Larry” Wayne Moffett Sr., 73, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2026, in New Albany, surrounded by the love and warmth of his devoted wife and beloved family. Born on January 19, 1953, in Louisville, Kentucky, Larry will be remembered as a hardworking, honest, and straightforward man whose greatest joy in life was the family he loved so deeply.

Larry worked diligently for many years as a building construction supervisor in the construction industry. He was a man who understood the value of hard work and carried that steady dedication throughout his life. More than anything, he was a devoted husband for 48 years, a beloved father, a loving grandfather and great-grandfather, a loyal friend and brother, and a devoted uncle. Watching his family grow and thrive was among his proudest accomplishments, and that joy remained at the center of his life.

He found happiness in life’s simple pleasures and the people who shared them with him. Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, bingo, visiting the gambling boat, and camping. He especially treasured spending time with his family and friends, creating the kind of memories that stay close to the heart. He also loved his dog, Midge, whose companionship brought him comfort and joy.

Larry is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda Moffett, whose love and devotion were a constant blessing in his life. He also leaves behind his daughters, Melissa Timberlake, Lori Timberlake, and Crystal Moffett. His memory will be cherished by his grandchildren, Lawrence Wayne Moffett III (Cassie), Joey Moffett, Timothy “T.J.” Gusler, Autumn Stewart (Jonathan), Abby Jones, Emily Stoner (Alex), and Anthony Schmitt III; and by his great-grandchildren, Liam Minor, Laina Stewart, Jonah Stewart, and Caroline Bowyer. He is also lovingly remembered by his sisters, Sheila Bridges, Sharon Murray, and Tammy Moffett, and by his brother, Aaron Moffett. Each of them carries forward a part of his strength, his love, and the many moments they shared together.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Elizabeth Moffett; his father, Herbert Lee Moffett; his son, Lawrence Wayne Moffett Jr.; and his sisters, Brenda Peabody and Beverly Moffett. Their memories remained a part of Larry’s life and heart.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southern Indiana, 3309 Ballard Ln, New Albany, Indiana 47150. Visitation will also be held on Thursday, September 24, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with a funeral service to follow from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southern Indiana, 3309 Ballard Ln, New Albany, Indiana 47150. Burial will take place following the service from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, 2778 Charlestown Rd, New Albany, Indiana 47150.

Larry’s life was grounded in love, loyalty, and perseverance. He leaves behind a family strengthened by his example and countless memories that will continue to bring comfort in the days ahead. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
