Lawrence E. Dearing "Larry", a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky, with his beloved wife, Deborah Ann Dearing, by his side. He was born on December 12, 1953, in New Albany, Indiana, where he lived his life with an unwavering joy that touched everyone around him.
A proud graduate of New Albany High School, Larry dedicated many years to his career as a lineman for LG&E, where he worked diligently and made a difference in the lives of his colleagues. He was not just known for his work ethic; he was also the life of the party, always up for an adventure or a fun time. His vibrant personality made him a loyal husband, devoted father, and trustworthy friend who could always bring a smile to others' faces with his kind spirit and infectious laughter.
Larry was a man of many interests and hobbies; he found great joy in golf, crossword puzzles, singing, dancing, bowling and his yearly motorcycle rides. His love for IU Basketball was well known, but perhaps what he treasured most was spending time with his family and friends, especially walking hand-in-hand on the Big 4 Bridge with Debbie. The bond they shared was profound and full of love, serving as a beautiful example of companionship for all who knew them.
As a dedicated father, he had the immense joy of watching his family grow, a proud accomplishment that filled his heart with happiness. He leaves behind his loving wife of 26 years, Deborah, and their wonderful children: Christy (Brian) Eurton, Geoffrey (Tina) Dearing, Timothy (Crystal) Dearing, Aimee (Jason) Frakes, and Ashley (Stephen) Curtis. To them, he was more than a father; he was their biggest supporter and a guiding light in their lives. Larry also leaves behind eight beloved grandchildren who brought him endless joy and pride.
He is survived by his brothers, Michael (Kathy) Dearing and Donald (Becky) Dearing. Larry’s legacy will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him and were touched by his generous spirit.
Preceding him in death were his father, George T. Dearing, his mother, Julia A. Dearing, his sister, Cynthia Dearing, his brother, William Dearing, and his devoted dog Binx, who were greeted warmly upon his arrival at peace.
A memorial gathering to honor Larry’s extraordinary life will be held on November 1, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southern Indiana, located at 3309 Ballard Ln, New Albany, IN 47150.
