Laura Louise “Wheezy” Beumer

Laura Louise Beumer, age 68, known to nearly everyone as “Wheezy”, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, July 10, 2026. She was born on March 10, 1958, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Marian and Sonny Schneidtmiller. Laura grew up in Louisville, with her 4 brothers and sister until traveling the world with her husband Jeff while in service.

Laura spent her working years at Walgreens and Citi Card, where she made friends quickly. Laura was known for being hardworking and understanding of so many peoples stories as she worked collections.

At home, she was known for her cooking. Her sweet tea was a family staple, her fried chicken was the stuff of legend, and on a lucky day, she would make her chicken and dumplings, a dish reserved for the fortunate few.

Laura loved the sun and being by the pool, and she loved her husband, Jeff most of all. Laura was stubborn as hell, and she loved deeply, and both were true of the way she loved him. I think we all find comfort knowing they are together again.

Laura was preceded in death by her husband, Jeff Beumer; her mother, Marian Schneidtmiller; and her father, John “Sonny” Schneidtmiller.

Laura is survived by her two sons, Michael (Andre) and David (Christi) Beumer; the family dog, Angel; and her four granddaughters that referred to her as Nanna Kaydee, Reina, Harleigh, and Cami Beumer; and a host of relatives and friends.

Services will be held on Thursday, July the 23rd from 6pm to 8pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 205 Charles Hamilton Dr, Shepherdsville, Ky 40165.  All are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a glass of sweet tea, sometime in the sun, and a call to someone you love.
