LaTonya LaMae Tyson Ogburn was born on June 28, 1964 to Georgia and Jerry A. Tyson, Sr., in Louisville, Kentucky. She was the eldest child born of four children to this un-ion. She is preceded in death by her father, Mr. Jerry A. Tyson, Sr., and her sister Shavon Tyson.
As a child LaTonya attended the Jefferson County Public Schools, graduating from the prestigious Brown School. After high school, LaTonya continued her education, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Sullivan University.
LaTonya was baptized in the name of Jesus at the tender age of twelve and she re-ceived the Holy Ghost at the age of fifteen, under the pastorate of the late Bishop Robert L. Little. She was a faithful member of the Christ Temple Sunday School De-partment as a child and teenager. LaTonya was a loyal member under her current pastor, Bishop Dr. Michael E. Ford, Sr. Her love for her church was unquestionable. LaTonya loved the songs of Zion. Oftentimes, you could find LaTonya working in the CTCLC kitchen alongside her mother. Cooking and enjoying fine soul food were two of her favorite pastimes. She was a dedicated usher of the CTCLC Usher Board and served until her health began to fail. LaTonya was an employee of Jones Plastics, Incorporated and the Fresenius Medical Center.
Tonya, as she was affectionately called, loved her children, grandchildren, mother, and siblings. She made sure that she spent quality time with each one of them. Tonya was a very soft-spoken woman, with a meek, humble and kind spirit. She was an en-courager, and everything she involved herself in flourished. She had a happy out-look on life. And, she delighted in doing acts of kindness for others. Many times, she put herself on the back burner to make sure everyone else's needs were met. You could count on Tonya to remember your birthday or a special event in your life. In other words, she became everybody's "Momma". Tonya had a special fondness for animals and was an avid Louisville Cardinals Basketball fan. She was a faithful friend to many.
