Larry Charles Myers, 83, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 27, 1942, Larry was the devoted husband of Opal Ann (Gilliam) Myers. The two were married on August 28, 1965, and shared 60 wonderful years together filled with love, laughter, and countless memories.

Larry proudly served his country in the United States Navy Submarine Service from 1960 to 1963 and continued in the Naval Reserve for two additional years. His service instilled in him a deep sense of discipline, pride, and perseverance that carried through every chapter of his life.

A true entrepreneur at heart, Larry built a successful career through his many business ventures, including Montel Metals, UpTrac, Vanmeter Publishing, Marina Boats & Sales, Toy Warehouse, and as co-owner of an auction company. His creativity, determination, and vision inspired those around him and left a lasting mark on the business community.

Larry’s greatest passion, however, was writing and publishing. He was a gifted storyteller who authored numerous short stories and screenplays, always crafting vivid worlds with his words. He was in the process of completing his unpublished novel, Last Savage, a testament to his enduring creativity and imagination.

Beyond his accomplishments, Larry will be remembered for his zest for life, his love for sitting on the porch with a cigar and a glass of bourbon, sharing stories and laughter with family and friends. He cherished every moment spent with those he loved most.

Larry was preceded in death by his loving parents, Ann Vanway and Charles Myers.

He is survived by his devoted wife Opal Ann Myers, and their four children: Michele Grey (Rick), Robin Hutchens (Dean), Michael Myers (JoAnn), and Richard Myers (Katie). He was the proud grandfather of Cory Smith, Amber Ehlers (Daniel), Bradley Smith, Chelsey Smith (James), Cody Hutchens (Aleisha), LeAnne Myers (Michael), Brantley Heath, Christian Grey, Sidney Hutchens, Jacob Myers, Madison Myers, Dylan Myers, and Nick Grey (Tara); and the adoring great-grandfather of Baylee Ehlers, Emma Ehlers, Ian Ehlers, Nora Hutchens, Callum Myers Johnson, and Luke Hutchens.

He is also survived by his loving sisters Lauren Myers and Pamela Taulbert, along with numerous nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Larry.

Larry’s life was rich with love, hard work, laughter, and storytelling. His legacy will live on through the lives he touched and the stories he shared.

A private celebration of life will be held on October 18th.
