Larry E. Irwin, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on October 8, 2026, in Louisville at the age of 76. He was born on November 6, 1949, in Louisville, Kentucky.

Larry will be remembered as a hard and dependable worker who brought energy and warmth wherever he went. He retired from General Electric and from Griffin Company, and throughout his life he was known for his steady work ethic and his memorable personality. He was quite a character who could light up a room, and his presence left a lasting impression on those who knew him.

Music was a defining part of Larry’s life. He was a bass guitarist and played in several bands for more than 60 years, sharing his love of music with audiences, friends, and family alike. He was also a DJ and hosted karaoke at parties and weddings, helping others celebrate life’s happy moments. He enjoyed spending time out with family and friends, whether over dinner and drinks or while playing pool, and those gatherings became some of the many ways he stayed closely connected to the people he cared about.

He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Irwin; his sister, Freda Irwin; his niece, Angie Vanguilder; his grandsons, Darren Friedman, Dylan Friedman (Serena), Josh Friedman, and Cameron Friedman; his granddaughter, Jenna Friedman; his 5 great-grandchildren; his brothers-in-law, Russell Gnadinger, Tom Gnadinger, Carl Gnadinger, David Gnadinger, and Roger Gnadinger; his sister-in-law, Petronella Carr; his daughter-in-law, Angela Friedman; and his friend, Linda Kebert. Each of them carries forward memories of Larry’s humor, companionship, and the lively spirit he brought to everyday life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Syvania Irwin; his aunt, Ruby Irwin, and by his sons, Kevin Friedman and Christopher Friedman.
