Larry Eugene Williams

Larry Eugene Williams, 88, passed away on September 9, 2026. Born on November 28, 1937, Larry lived a life marked by faith, service, laughter, and deep devotion to the people he loved most.

Larry served his country in the United States Navy on a mine sweeper during the Vietnam War. He also built a long career with the United States Postal Service, where he retired as a District Supervisor. Through his work and service, he carried himself with steady dedication and quiet strength.

He was a man whose presence brought warmth wherever he went. Funny and laid back, Larry always had a joke ready, and his kind and generous spirit made him easy to love. He enjoyed life’s simple pleasures and made the most of every moment. He loved to play any card game, enjoyed fishing, bowling, and golf, and liked watching horse racing at Churchill Downs. He was also a faithful fan of the Louisville Cardinals and enjoyed watching The Price is Right. In the kitchen, Larry found another way to care for others. He especially loved cooking, and his chicken and noodles became a treasured tradition, something he brought to every gathering and event.

His faith was central to his life. Larry dedicated his life to the Lord at Cloverleaf Baptist Church, a commitment that shaped the way he loved and lived. He was also a dedicated and loving husband to his wife, Barbara, for 32 wonderful years. Above all, Larry loved his family deeply and cherished the time they spent together.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Barbara Williams; his children, Vicki Altizer and her husband Danny, Michael Williams and his wife Linda, and Robyn Burton and her husband Brandon; his daughter-in-law, Susan Williams; and his grandchildren, Shannon Cole and her husband Billy, Christy Goodlett and her husband Chris, Lauren Williams, Allison Fowler and her husband Nathaniel, Jalen Stith and his wife Ali, Gavin Stith and his wife Lauran, Brevan Stith, and Tayler Burton, thirteen great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter and a host of extended family and friends. Each of them carries forward memories of his humor, his generosity, his good cooking, and the love he gave so freely.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edna Williams and Leo Williams; his son, Randy Williams; and his brothers, Charles Williams and Robert Jeffries.

Visitation will be held on September 15, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville, 10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40272. The funeral service will begin there at 11:00 a.m. A graveside service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery, 2501 North Dixie Boulevard, Fort Knox, KY 40121.

Larry Eugene Williams will be remembered as a man of faith, laughter, and steadfast love. His family and friends will hold close the joy he brought to their lives and the many moments that made him so dearly loved.
