Larry Thomas Dunn, born on March 13, 1946, in Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026, in his hometown, surrounded by his loving wife, children, their spouses, and grandchildren. His passing marks the conclusion of a life deeply cherished by all who knew him—a legacy defined by love, service, laughter, and unwavering devotion to family.

Larry’s early years in Louisville began a journey marked by resilience and accomplishment. He was the beloved son of Edna Denham Dunn and Lloyd T. Dunn, both of whom preceded him in death. From a young age, Larry’s natural warmth and humor set him apart, traits that would come to define him throughout his life.

A proud alumnus of the University of Kentucky, Larry valued education and the opportunities it provided. His sense of duty and courage led him to serve his country during the Vietnam War, where he distinguished himself as a Sergeant in the Army. During his remarkable service, Larry was highly decorated, earning 18 commendations—a testament to his bravery, leadership, and dedication. His military service remained one of his proudest accomplishments, reflecting the courage and selflessness that those closest to him admired deeply.

After his military career, Larry dedicated many years to the United States Postal Service, serving his community with the same diligence and care that characterized every aspect of his life. His professional and personal integrity left a lasting impression on colleagues and friends alike.

Larry had a vibrant personality that became the heart of every gathering. He loved to entertain, and laughter frequently filled his home. The water brought him joy—boating was a favorite pastime, where he found peace, adventure, and family togetherness. Music was another passion, often providing the backdrop to the many celebrations he hosted.

Central to Larry's life was his devotion to family. He deeply loved and protected them, creating an environment of support and joy that shaped generations. He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna Dunn, whose partnership was a source of strength and happiness. Larry’s enduring legacy continues through his children: his daughter Erica Wellemeyer Boland (Gene), and sons Brittan Shoupe Dunn and Landon Thomas Dunn (Holly). He held a special bond with his grandchildren—Erich Wellemeyer (Yazmin), Garrett Wellemeyer (Lauren), Zachary Wellemeyer (Claire), Oliver Dunn, and Elliot Dunn—each of whom brought him immense pride and happiness.

Larry’s spirit lives on in the countless lives he touched with his generosity, humor, and kindness. His life was a testament to the profound impact one person can have, not only within the circle of family and friends, but also across a broader community.
