Larry D. Gaines, Sr.

March 25, 1946 — June 24, 2016

Larry Dean Gaines, Sr., 70, of Corydon, Indiana, was called home on Friday, June 24, 2016. He was born on March 25, 1946, in Wewoka, Oklahoma, and was raised by his loving grandparents, Marshal Franklin Gaines and Leiu-Jane (McCain) Gaines. Larry was a proud U.S. Army veteran that proudly served our country in Vietnam.

Along with his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Patricia "Pat" (Gunn) Gaines; and sister, Marsha. He is survived by his son, Larry "Dean" Gaines, Jr.; loving care-giver, Karol Herron; siblings, Bobby, Jane, and Jimmy; granddaughter, Brandi Nicole Gaines; and numerous cousins, including his favorite, Cleta Hoffman.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana 47150). His Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at the funeral home with burial and military honors to follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Lanesville.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Larry's name can be made to Hosparus-Hospice of Louisville (315 East Broadway, Louisville, Kentucky 40202) or The Vietnam Veterans of America (8719 Colesville Road, Suite 100, Silver Spring, Maryland 20910).
