Larry Crenshaw, beloved father, grandfather, son, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2026, in his cherished hometown of Louisville, KY, at the age of 76. Born on July 5, 1949, in Louisville, Larry’s life was a testament to quiet strength, tireless devotion, and the unique warmth he brought to those fortunate enough to know him.
A proud graduate of Shawnee High School, Larry was a hardworking man who dedicated many years of his life to serving his community through his work at International Harvester, Swift, and UPS. His commitment to his job reflected the same steadfast character that he showed to his family and friends—a man of diligence, and resilience.
Larry was the true definition of a caregiver. With a heart always extended toward others, he lived his life for his family, friends, and faith. Larry possessed a good sense of humor that could light up a room, and he found immense joy in bringing happiness to those around him.
He will be deeply missed and tenderly remembered by his children: Tracy Crenshaw (Anthony), Stacey (Kevin) Hickerson, Kimberly (Rashaun) Smith, Ira (JoLynn) Crenshaw, and Iris (Clarence III) Thomas. Nine grandchildren, Anthony, Aayanna, JaTaun, Tiana, Adrian, Aniyah, Clarence IV, Richard and Alana, four great grandchildren, Braylon, Gabriella, RJ and Alayia. Along with his siblings, Linda, Stephen, Gregory "Boo", Gwendolyn and Shirley, as well as a host of other family and friends that will miss him very much.
Though Larry faced his share of loss—including his loving wife, Janet "Niecy" Crenshaw; his grandchild, Evan Hickerson; his siblings Michael and Jerry Crenshaw; and his parents, Oliver Lee and Ann Lee Victor Crenshaw—he found solace in his faith and in the laughter that often filled his home. A man who loved his God, Larry found great comfort and purpose in his spirituality.
Outside of work and family, Larry had simple pleasures that brought him happiness: watching sports, going thrift shopping, and, perhaps most of all, playing cards with his family. These moments, filled with animated conversation and competitive spirit, are now treasured memories for all who shared them with him.
Family and friends are invited to honor Larry’s life at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville, 10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40272. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 27th from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life at 1:00 PM. In these gatherings, those who loved him most will come together to remember a life well-lived and a spirit that endures.
Larry Crenshaw leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. He will forever be carried in the hearts of those he loved so deeply.
