Larry Eugene Barger, Sr.

Larry Eugene Barger, Sr., 63, of New Albany, Indiana passed away on June 26, 2017. He retired from Local Pipefitters #502 in Louisville, KY after over 40 years and was a member of Clear Fork Wesleyan Church where he enjoyed singing. Larry loved spending time with his family and was often found operating his backhoe.

Larry was born on June 26, 1954, in New Albany, Indiana to the late Homer Melvin Sr. and Stella Louise (Murphy) Barger. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Carol Sue Nall.

Larry is survived by his wife of 43 years, Rebecca Jane (Summers) Barger; sons, Larry Eugene Barger, Jr. (Melissa) and Stephen Michael Barger, Sr.; daughters, Tracy Michelle Stratton (Stephen) and Melissa Joy Barger; sisters, Elsie Harrell (Gary), Linda Schott (Dennis Baldwin), Lois Summers (Dan), Mary Carlisle; brothers, David Barger (Nancy), Homer Melvin Barger, II (Tammy), 13 grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Ceremony will be held Friday at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with burial to follow at Veron Cemetery.
