Lamar Allen Richardson

Lamar "Rich" Allen Richardson, 79, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2023.

He was born on September 7, 1943 in Richmond, Virginia to the late Lamar and Pauline (Allen) Richardson.

Rich was a 1961 graduate of Valley High School and furthered his education from Murray State University graduating with his BME in 1964 and MAE in 1966. His first teaching position was band director in Ewing, VA from 1964-1966.

Rich started the band program at Jtown High School where he introduced bagpipes into the Marching Chargers, and led them to many championships. He remained at Jeffersontown High School from 1966 until his retirement in 1995. Rich was also a commander in the Civil Air Patrol in the 1960's and was an obsessive fisherman.

Rich is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Judi Richardson, daughter, Julie Richardson Todd, son, Lamar "Marty" Richardson, Jr. (Christan), siblings, Daniel Richardson (Nancy), Joseph Richardson (Mary); grandchildren Dylan, Mason and Quentin Richardson, Jacob Todd, Victoria "Tori" Engle, Justen Lewis, Brooke Vorbrink and great-grandson, Carter Lewis.

Visitation will be from 2:00 pm until the time of the memorial service at 4:00 pm on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions East Louisville, (235 Juneau Drive Louisville, KY 40243).
