Kenneth Warren Wedeking, 74, of Louisville, KY passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Dec. 19, 2019.
Ken was born in Washington, IN on July 17,1945 to the late Dr. Loyd and Bettye Wedeking. He was a graduate of the University of Evansville where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He was retired from Ocean Optical and was an active member of Southeast Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Wayne (Gordon) Wedeking; daughter, Amy (Tim) Beard; son, Adam (Marlow) Wedeking; six grandchildren; sisters, Suzanne Frederickson of Indianapolis, IN, and Linda Lane of Franklin, TN; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Ken was a Kentucky Colonel and fan of the Louisville Cardinals, Indiana Hoosiers, Chicago Bears, and New York Yankees. A wine sommelier, he also enjoyed fine Kentucky bourbon and cooking on the grill. He loved history and was an expert in the Civil War, WWI and WWII. He appreciated traveling the world, reading, and just being with family and friends.
Long known for his positive outlook on life and sense of humor, he served as the President of Middletown Lions Club and taught Dale Carnegie classes. He never met a stranger and enjoyed life to the fullest.
The family would like to thank Dr. Laszlo Makk, Dr. Matt Taylor, the staff of Jewish ICU and the staff of Baptist Louisville.
Visitation will be Friday January 3, 2020 from 11:30 am–1:30 pm followed by a memorial service at 1:30 pm at Chapel in the Woods-Southeast Christian Church, 1401 Moser Rd. Louisville, KY 40299. Reception will follow at St. Margaret Mary Church Hospitality Room, 7813 Shelbyville Rd., Louisville, KY 40222.
