Keith Smith

Keith Smith, 63, of Louisville passed away November 20th, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marnell Smith and Frances Purdy Smith.

Left to cherish his memory are his longtime companion Bobby Edelen, his brothers Scott (Kathy) Smith of Manhattan, KS, Dale (Kathy Speevack) Smith of Bowling Green, KY, and David Gene Smith of Collinsville, IL, his niece Katie Smith, and nephews Robbie Smith and Jesse Smith. Keith had many loving extended family relationships, including his Smith and Purdy cousins from Owensboro and the Edelen family from Louisville.

Keith was a graduate of Owensboro Catholic High School, Brescia University and the University of Louisville School of Law. He worked several years as a reporter with the Owensboro Messenger and Inquirer newspaper and practiced employment law in Louisville. In recent years he spent his life in the service of others with various nonprofit organizations.

Keith loved music, and playing the harmonica with his brother David on guitar. He enjoyed road trips to Glacier and Yellowstone Park with his brothers. Family reunions were always fun for Keith and he had a passion for dancing in his younger years.

A Celebration of Life with remembrances and music throughout will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Chapel (10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY) on Thursday, November 29th from 1 to 3 pm.
