Listen to Obituary

With hearts heavy and spirits stirred by memory, we gather in tribute to Katlin Marie Wathen, whose vibrant light graced this world from October 17, 1987, until August 17, 2026. Though her life was cut far too short, her presence was a force—fierce, radiant, and unforgettable.

Katlin’s journey began with an irrepressible spark that marked her every step. She graduated from Doss High School in 2006, already demonstrating the determined, independent character that would define her life. Those who knew her best recall her as strong-willed and feisty, never afraid to stake her ground or voice her convictions. Passion lit her way, guiding her fiercely toward what she loved and believed in.

To those who saw her, Katlin was stunning—a fashionista in the truest sense, whose bold style underscored an even bolder spirit. Beauty wove itself through her life, not just in outward form, but in the creativity that spilled from her soul. Artistic at heart, Katlin found expression in countless mediums, always bringing color and vibrancy to the world around her.

Nature called to Katlin as well, and she found peaceful escape in the simple joys of fishing. The calm of the water and the excitement of the catch reflected her complexities—her love of both serenity and adventure. Ever true to herself, Katlin was a tattoo enthusiast, and the narrative of her life could be read in the art she wore—each piece a testament to experiences lived and cherished.

Among all her proudest achievements, none compared to the immense love she held for her three children. They were her world, the light by which she charted her course through storm and sunshine alike. In the tapestry of her life, her children were the bright threads woven through every joy, challenge, and triumph she embraced.

Although words can barely capture the scope of her vibrant energy, those who loved Katlin take comfort in the legacy she leaves behind: a legacy of authenticity, courage, and boundless love.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Dorothy Burgan and Rebecca Gritton; grandparents, Bill and Sue Canter; great-grand-parents, Shirley and Gene Tingle, and Marie and Walter Cottrell; step-father, Gerald Skidmore; grand father-in-law, Keith Evans; aunt Sharon Gabehart and uncles, Gilbert "Buddy" and Bobby Burgan.
