Katherine Sue (Kaufer) Read

Katherine (Kaufer) Read, 70, of Pekin, Indiana, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2019. Kathy loved flowers and enjoyed playing board games, but her greatest love was her family and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was born on July 10, 1949, in Floyd County, Indiana, to the late Albert and Louise (Rudolph) Kaufer. She is preceded in death by her brother, Albert Kaufer; and sister, Delores Kaufer.

Kathy is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, James Read; daughter, Michelle (Todd Richmond) Carmickle; son, Jeff Read; daughter, Melissa Read; siblings, Mary Lou Robinson, Bob (Darlene) Kaufer, Betty Schotter, Grace (Dan) Dunn, Patty (Bill) Messenger, Mike Kaufer, Margaret (Jerry) Schellenberger, and Tommy (Diana) Kaufer; grandchildren, Chad Carmickle, Breanna Carmickle, and Grayson Carmickle.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5, 2019, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Service will be at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Kathy will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in New Albany.
