Karol Jane Fico (nee Kerr), age 58, of Valley Station (Louisville), Kentucky, born January 5, 1964, in Princeton, New Jersey, went home to Jesus on February 4, 2022, in Louisville, Kentucky. Karol had a beautiful and courageous spirit, with strong faith, and a special zest for life. Many were the beneficiaries of her kind and generous heart. She was also a two-time Lymphoma survivor. Raised in Waukesha, Wisconsin, and Lantana, Florida. A graduate of Lake Worth (Florida) High School, co-editor of the school newspaper, among many other activities and interests. Karol had a passion for cooking and worked in the restaurant industry for most of her life. She was a long-time employee of the Sbarro and Cracker Barrel restaurants. An avid collector of vintage goods and antiques, she maintained a booth at the New Cut Peddler's Mall. Preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Mildred Kerr, and her husband, John Fico.
She is survived by her brother Ken (Marianne) Kerr, and her sisters Katherine (Louis) Holub, and Karen (Mark) Ditthardt. Fun-loving aunt to Luke (Lauren) Holub, Nathen Holub, Lisa Holub, Fox Kerr, Kevin (Melissa Malork) Kerr, Jonathan Kerr, Jamison Ditthardt, and Kyle Ditthardt, along with three great nieces. Devoted lifelong friend to Nancy Colcord, treasured companion to Mike Mills, and close friend to Rocky and Sallie Bowman. She will also be missed by her extended family, many cherished friends and coworkers, and her caring Lymphoma support community, all whom she dearly loved and considered her "family."
Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Karol's memory to the Brown Cancer Center at University of Louisville Health:
