Karl E. Roesler, Jr.

December 15, 1964 — November 9, 2021

Karl Edmund Roesler, Jr. "Chuck," born December 15, 1964 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, died November 9, 2021 in Louisville, Kentucky, where he lived, at age 56. Chuck was a loving father and husband who would do anything to support his family. As a young man, he earned his bachelor's degree while playing football for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, something he had been told he could never do after brutally breaking his leg in high school. He overcame the odds, however, with the fighting spirit of a true Notre Dame Irishman. After graduating from college, he met his beautiful wife in Chicago, Illinois where they were married on October 30, 1993.

In July of 1995, their first child was born, and Chuck passed down the family name, Karl, to his son, his pride and joy. In September of 1997, they welcomed their daughter, Nikole, into the family. Chuck would go on to coach both his son and daughter and many of their friends in different sports while also working as a financial advisor. Throughout his life, he never lost his love for the game of football, and he passed that love on to his son. Once his son began playing college football for the Arkansas Razorbacks, he almost exclusively sported cardinal red and white and made the ten-hour drive from Louisville to Fayetteville, Arkansas for most home games. Chuck eventually turned his love of football into a career by working for the Pro-Football Hall of Fame as a director of offensive line youth camps.

His love for his wife and children was evident in his support of all their endeavors. He was so proud of Nikole for getting her Doctor of Pharmacy, and he helped both his kids get their first jobs after college. He has been described by friends as a positive, "glass always half-full" kind of guy. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, former teammates, the many, many players he influenced through sports, and his colleagues. Chuck is preceded in death by his father, Karl Roesler, Sr.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Lora Roesler; his children, Karl and Nikole Roesler; his mother, Annette Roesler; his sisters, Anne Roesler-Becker and Kathy Roesler-Coy; and a host of relatives and many friends.

A gathering to celebrate Chuck's life will be 5 to 8 pm on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243.
