Karl Theodore Bjorn

October 4, 1938 — August 18, 2018

Karl Theodore 'Ted' Bjorn, passed peacefully in Louisville, KY, on August 18, 2018, after a long battle with leukemia. Born October 4, 1938 in Akron, Ohio, Ted was son of the late Lars and Sigrid Bjorn who emigrated from Sweden. Ted was a NROTC and Mechanical Engineering graduate of University of Louisville Speed Scientific School, and received the Outstanding Naval Graduate Award.

Ted met Mary Elizabeth Moody at UofL, and they married after graduation. They lived in New London, CT, for submarine school, then moved to San Diego, CA, where he served on 2 submarines achieving the rank of Lieutenant Commander. They relocated to Hudson, OH, where he worked for BF Goodrich many years, then fulfilled a life-long entrepreneurial dream as they moved to Anchorage, KY, where Ted owned a metal fabricating company. Ted loved to play golf, tennis, fish, camp, watch football, and especially to enjoy time with family and friends.

He is survived by wife, Mary; daughter, Beth Parodi (Enrico); daughter, Barbi Hamor (Briggs) and son, Lars (Erin) and 5 grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Sylvia and 2 nephews.

Celebration of Life will be held at 4pm on September 22, 2018, at Westport Road Baptist Church, 9705 Westport Rd, Louisville, KY.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to DAV (Disabled American Veterans) Charitable Service Trust, 877-426-2838.
