Kara Ann "Care-Bear" Winbun

Kara Ann "Care-bear" Winbun, age 44 of Louisville, Kentucky ran joyously into Heaven on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.  

Kara was born on October 15, 1980 in Louisville, Kentucky to Gene and Therese "Terri" Weigand Winbun.  Kara graduated in 2000 from Oldham County High School.  Kara was a joy and a source of love and inspiration to all who met her.   She fought a long and hard battle with cancer.  She will be forever missed.

She is preceded in death by her father, Gene Winbun, Jr.; her brother, Michael Andrew Winbun; paternal grandparents and maternal grandparents.  

Kara is survived by her loving mother, Therese "Terri" Winbun; a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.  Special love to her best friends, Beth McBride, Josh Ising and his mother, Kelli Ising; Kara's sweetheart, David Riley and his parents, Martha and Brian Drummond.  Kara was especially loved by her mother's Widow Group; and also her Kaliedescope Family, where she attended day program for 18 years.

Visitation will be 10am to 12pm  on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243.  A celebration of Kara's life will be 12pm at the funeral home with the burial to follow at Cave Hill Cemetery.

The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to the awesome and loving doctors, nurses and staff of Norton Brownsboro Cancer Institute and Hospital, who loved and cared for her.
