Kailen Combs Taylor went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 surrounded by her husband, parents, sister, and brother.
Kailen was born on February 24, 1990 in Louisville, Kentucky to Jeff and Kim Combs. She spent most of her life in Oldham County, Kentucky where she attended Centerfield Elementary and Oldham County Middle and High Schools. While at Oldham County High School, Kailen was a Governor's Scholar and went on to attend the University of Kentucky as part of the Honor's Program with a plan to become a pharmacist. Due to health limitations, Kailen opted to attend Spencerian College where she received an Associate's Degree as a Certified Medical Assistant with Phlebotomy and graduated with the highest honors.
Kailen met her husband, Bryan, in 2009 and they were married on December 18, 2010. Bryan graduated from the University of Kentucky College Of Pharmacy this past May with high honors and Kailen by his side. Other than her husband, Bryan, Kailen's pride and joy were her two boxers, Rupp and Layla, who spent many days keeping her company as she courageously battled Stage 4 breast cancer since 2012.
Kailen grew up as a member of New Life Church in Louisville, Kentucky, and was very passionate about her relationship with Jesus as she lived out her faith for all to see. Her family's motto was "To Do Life and Not Let Life Do You" which Kailen purposed to do throughout her life. Kailen was a strong leader and gifted writer with her writings touching many lives through the years. She was also a self-trained gourmet chef and took great pride in preparing meals as if they were a work of art. She loved all kinds of arts and crafts evidenced by the many beautiful gifts she made for family and friends.
Kailen is survived by her husband, Dr. Bryan C. Taylor, and their two dogs, Rupp and Layla; her parents, Jeff and Kim Combs; sister, Kristen Combs; brother, Jarrod Combs; and a soon-to-be-nephew; grandparents, Kenneth and Mae Dick; grandmother, Carolyn Combs; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is also survived by her in-laws, Steve, Lesa, Audrey, and Alyssa Taylor and Mamaw, Dorothy Taylor. Kailen is preceded in death by her grandfather, Prentys L. Combs, and her grandfather-in-law, Jennings Bryan Taylor.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 18, 2015 from 2-8PM at New Life Church (3402 Goose Creek Road Louisville, KY 40241). A Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 11 AM also at the Church.
Burial will be at Floydsburg Cemetery following the Service.
