Julie Richards, of Louisville, Kentucky, entered the eternal Kingdom of Heaven on Sunday, January 8, 2017. She was born in Newark, Ohio, the youngest of five children. She was a 1956 graduate of St. Francis DeSales Catholic High School of Newark, Ohio, and a 1959 graduate of Mount Carmel College of Nursing in Columbus, Ohio. Julie was employed many years at Central State Hospital where she served as the assistant Director of Nursing, retiring in 2000. She was a devoted member of St. Louis Bertrand Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Rosary Altar Society, and involved in fund raising. One of her favorite charities was the Little Way Pregnancy Center. Julie found joy in church functions and spending time with her family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother of eight. She was an avid UofL fan. Julie was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice and Beatrice Follmer Floyd; siblings, Martha Wilson, Constance Novak and James Floyd.
Julie is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Fred; her children, Dr. Michael Richards (Beth), Dr. Stephen Richards (Natalie) and Jennifer Howell (Scott); grandchildren, Hank, Katie, Andrew, Will, Matthew, Ben, Tyler and Ali; sister, Rosemary Selby; and a host of relatives and friends.
Mass of celebration will be 9:30am, Friday, January 13, 2017 at St. Louis Bertrand Catholic Church, 1104 South Sixth Street, Louisville, KY., 40203. Burial will be at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff, KY.
Memorials may be made to St. Louis Bertrand Catholic Church or the Little Way Pregnancy Center.
