Julia Lucille(Nord) Gatsos

Julia Lucille (Nord) Gatsos, 68, of New Albany, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2015. She enjoyed a 47 year career in nursing/nursing education and recently retired after 28 years from the VA Medical Center in Louisville. Julia was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in New Albany where she was involved with the Marian Guild. She was also active in Beta Sigma Phi, Terrace Garden Club, Sew "n" Tell Quilt Guild, and New Neighbors. Julia enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, and most importantly being a grandma.

She was born on March 16, 1947 in Huntingburg, Indiana to the late Herbert and Philomena (Scheessele) Nord. Julia is survived by her husband of 41 years, Gregory Gatsos; children, Jennifer Walter (Matthew), Stephen Gatsos (Emily), Crecentia Curran (Doug); siblings, Sylvia Davis, Joseph Nord (Margaret), Gloria Rexing (Gerald), Carolyn Kaiser (Lonnie), Albert Nord (Margie), Timothy Nord (Theresa), Thomas Nord (Mary), George Nord (Becky), Regina Tone (Fred), Beth Kirsch (Joe), Marilyn Wilson (Deryl); grandchildren, Sofia, Carly, Noah, Nicholas, baby Curran; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 2 PM to 8 PM on Friday, August 28, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Saturday after 10 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church (129 W. Daisy Lane, New Albany). A prayer service will be held at 7:30 PM on Friday. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 PM Saturday at her church with burial to follow at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery.
