Judith Louise Snell

Judith Louise Snell, a woman whose life was defined by profound devotion, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026. Born on January 16, 1944, in Las Vegas, Nevada, Judith was the daughter of the late Gerald and Evelyn (Holsinger) Buckley. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of forty-two years, Thomas Edgar Snell, and her brother Richard Buckley.

A graduate of La Sierra High School in Carmichael, California, Class of 1961, Judith furthered her spiritual journey by attending Cavalry Bible College in Kansas City, Missouri. These formative years shaped a woman of steadfast faith and relentless spirit, a beacon of perseverance for all who knew her.

Judith’s personality was marked by tenacity and a unique ability to create something extraordinary from the simplest of beginnings. Her self-sacrificing nature ensured that her family never lacked, always placing their needs above her own.

A passionate bird watcher and devoted participant in her FROGS Sunday School Class at Westport Road Baptist Church, Judith found joy and peace in nature and fellowship alike. Her cherished camping trips with her husband were adventures of togetherness and quiet reflection. One story that reflects her love for her husband was her completion of a hunter’s safety course so she could spend time along with him.

Judith’s life was enriched by the weekly phone calls from family members, moments she treasured deeply. Her proudest accomplishments were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, the living legacies of her enduring love.

She is survived by her devoted children Todd (Leesa) Baltzley, Eric (Shelby) Baltzley, Heidi (Dan) Cohn, Katie (Randy) Gordon, Meleta (Todd) Truax, Matthew (Angela) Snell; her adoring nine grandchildren: Rachel Erdner (Alec), Damian Baltzley (Samantha), Chadd Baltzley (Claire), Brittney Rice (Michael), Delaney Hutchinson (John), Zachary Hines, Elijah Everette, Charlie Miller, and Meredith Everette; and ten great-grandchildren: Kameron Baltzley, Weston Baltzley, Boston Baltzley, James Rice, Iris Rice, River Bell, Peter Baltzley, Denver Baltzley, Beau Hutchinson and Lily Baltzley. She is also survived by her brothers, Kenneth Buckley (Candi), Brian Buckley (Karen), and her sister Nancy Currey.

A celebration of life will be on Thursday, May 7, 2026 at 5:30 pm on at Westport Road Baptist Church (9705 Westport Rd, Louisville, KY 40241). She will be laid to rest next to her husband privately at Floydsburg Cemetery.
