Judith Ann Helmer, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on December 4, 2024, at the age of 83. Born on June 21, 1941, in Battle Creek, Michigan, Judy lived a life full of joy, love, and memorable experiences.
Judy was particularly known for her vibrant personality. She had an extraordinary love for her flower garden, dedicating countless hours to nurture its beauty. Her passion for nature was rivaled only by her enthusiasm for dancing with friends, where her outgoing spirit shone brightly. Alongside her beloved husband, Oskie, she cherished many adventures, making memories through trips and various fun activities that showcased their deep bond.
Judy is survived by her sons, Wally (Nikki) Nussle and Mark (Roberta) Helmer; her grandchildren, Keally Douglass (Chad), Taylor Espinosa (Albert), Crystal Beson (Mike), Amber Robinson (Tim), Chelsey Hester (Dillon), Nolan Helmer (Angelina Sellitto), Dylan Helmer (Carlin), and Brittany Helmer (Ian Wedderburn); as well as her 16 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Wezzie Jones.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence "Oskie" LeRoy Helmer Jr.; her son, Scott Helmer; her daughter, Debbie Nussle; and her parents, Walter Riddle and Allie Dickerson Riddle.
The legacy of Judy will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her love for family, passion for life, and generous spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Judy's family would like to express their deepest gratitude for all the staff at the Lincoln Hills Memory Facility and Hosparus of Southern Indiana for their amazing care.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). She will be laid to rest privately at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.
