Judy left this earth to be with her our Lord on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at her home in Louisville, Kentucky, following a brief illness. She was 86 years old. Judy was a devoted and beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Judy received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees from the University of Louisville. In her professional career, Judy positively impacted lives as she focused on adult literacy and workplace success. Initially she spent several years as a teacher in Jefferson County Public Schools teaching special needs youths. She then transitioned into adult education, eventually becoming a Teaching Consultant for the National Center for Family Literacy , a Project Coordinator for the Kenan Trust Family Literacy Project and the Assistant Program Director implementing a program for adult education in the workplace for the Louisville Community Foundation. Eventually Judy branched out with her own non-profit agency, Career Visions, which provided workplace job training for the visually impaired. Judy was a long-time member of Southeast Christian Church in Louisville and sang in the choir there for several years.
Judy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Terrence H. Brown; in addition to her parents, George H. and Maybelle Watson; her brothers, Tom Watson (Ann) and David Watson (Mary Francis).
Judy is survived by her three children, David Brown (Carol), Laura Whitehead (Mark) and Jeffry Brown; as well as 7 grandchildren, Hillary McLemore (Jared), Scott Brown (Brooke Siebert), Christopher Brown (Chris Stith), Paul Whitehead, Emily Keur (Chris), Casey Castillo (Brandon), and Sarah Whitehead. She is also survived by her sister, Sally Watson Burres (Leonard); as well as 6 (and soon to be 9) great-grand children.
Judy has requested a small private service with only her family present.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in her name to one of her favorite charities is appreciated. They are: Southeast Christian Church of Louisville and Samaritan’s Purse.
