Judi Winkers, 62, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, July 6, 2021.
She was born January 12, 1959 in a suburb of Chicago to Edward and Marjorie (Miller) Van Dyke. In 1975, she moved with her family to a farm outside Richland Center, Wisconsin. Judi was preceded in death by her mother, grandparents Ruth and William Miller, stepfather Robert Meyer, aunt and uncle Judith and Bernhard Schutzkus.
Judi was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother, yet to those that made her so, she was much more - the anchor, the rock, the soul, the stability - of the family. Her smile was beautiful, her presence was steady and loving, and the challenge to face the hole she's unexpectedly left behind is great. But if Judi taught us anything, it's that we are strong and can keep going even when it seems impossible.
She is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, Bill Winkers of Louisville, three children Vicki Howell (Jason Heath) of Davenport, Iowa, Ryan Howell and Kerri Howell of Louisville, sisters Robbie Meyer of La Crosse, Wisconsin, Cindy Shannon (Brian Bell) of Richland Center, Wisconsin and brother William Meyer (Stacey Feiner) of Blue River, Wisconsin, five grandchildren Dylan, Corey and Tye Shafer, Naomi Merriman (Chase) and Gabriel Merriman. She is also survived by three great-grandsons William, Atlas and Brantley Shafer, stepchildren Wade Winkers (Molly), Billi Jo Leibfried (Ted), Travis Winkers (Trinity), stepgrandchildren Lexi, Abby, Colby, Dawsyn, Isabella, Beau and Bishop, nieces and nephews Mary and Jeff Shannon, Liam, Aidan and Marlee Meyer.
Cremation was chosen and her ashes will be buried at Basswood Cemetery in Wisconsin.
