Juanita Burns, 88, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2023.
She was born on April 6, 1934 to the late Gus and Minnie (Alcorn) Brown . Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James R. Burns, grandchild, Sheila Renee Burns and her brothers.
Juanita was a long time member of Beechland Baptist Church; where she taught Sunday School and was a greeter at the Family Life Center. Juanita was an avid U of L fan, enjoyed game nights with her family and devoting her time to her dog, Little Bit. Juanita was a strong woman of faith who also devoted her time to her family; she gave them all her love and devotion.
Juanita is survived by her loving sons, Robert (Cindy) Burns, Ed (Brenda) Burns and Jeff (Paula) Burns, grandchildren, Brad J. Burns, Melanie L. Skaggs, Jennifer N. Mobley, Brandy R. Ferrell, James A. Burns and LaRessia M. Brock, 16 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). Her Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm on Friday, at the funeral home with burial to follow at Bethany Memorial Cemetery.
The family requests that contributions in Juanita 's memory be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
