Joyce May (Posey) Pickett Murphy

Joyce May (Posey) Pickett Murphy, 88, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2021. Joyce was a devout caregiver her entire life. Upon the death of her mother at a young age, she started caring for her younger siblings and continued caring for those with physical and mental disabilities into her adult life.

She was born on August 4, 1933, in Green County, Kentucky, to the late Welby and Annie (Edwards) Posey. Along with her parents, Joyce is preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas D. Pickett; second husband, Louis "Bud" Murphy; son, Thomas C. Pickett; and siblings, Allen Posey, Vernice Wright, Ollen Posey, Austin Posey, Faynola Parnell, Glen Posey, and Ruth Money.

Joyce is survived by her loving grandchildren, Chris (Amy Gesenhues) Pickett, Mike Pickett, and Missy Reas; 3 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - New Albany (3309 Ballard Lane). A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time/10:00 a.m. Central Time on Thursday, November 4, 2021, at Tarter's Chapel Cemetery in Columbia, Kentucky.
