Joe A Wooldridge

Joe A. Wooldridge, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on September 23, 2026, in Louisville. He was born on April 18, 1948, in Louisville, and remained deeply connected to the city throughout his life.

Joe graduated from Ahrens High School in 1967. He went on to serve in the Air Force during the Vietnam War, a chapter of his life marked by duty and service to his country. After his military service, he worked for DuPont Dow in Louisville, where he built a long career before retiring.

He was a calm presence to those who knew him and had a way of making people laugh. Joe loved wood carving and painting, pursuits that reflected both his creativity and patience. He also enjoyed ghost adventures and, above all, always put his family first. That devotion to the people he loved was at the center of his life and will remain one of the qualities most remembered by those closest to him.

Joe is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Jo Wooldridge; his daughter, Stephanie Blandford; and his son, Bryan Wooldridge. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Michael Jasper (Jessica), Christian Jasper (Megan), Bryan Wooldridge, Jr. (Adrianne), Brandon Wooldridge (Layla), Jacob Blandford (Kenzie), and Madison Wooldridge; and his eleven great-grandchildren, who were an important part of his life and family circle. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Wooldridge (Janie); his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Comstock (Jay); numerous nieces and nephews; and extended family including Roger, Carolyn, Mary Ann, Lisa, and Debbie. He will be remembered with love by all who shared in his life and family.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Eva Wooldridge; his father, George Wooldridge; and his twelve siblings.

Visitation will be held on September 30, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Mary Queen of Peace, 4005 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40216. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the same location. Burial will take place following Mass at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff, Kentucky.

Joe’s life was defined by service, steady strength, laughter, and love for his family. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
