Joseph Thomas Wilson, Sr., 94, of Louisville, Kentucky, went peacefully home to be with the Lord and his loving family on Tuesday, December 8, 2020. He was a member of the Jeffersontown Masonic Lodge for 70 years and also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Southern Star Chapter for 45 years where he had served as Worthy Patron numerous terms. Joseph was a proud World War II Navy Veteran serving on 6 different ships, his favorite being the BB44 USS California Battleship. He was a member and former employee of Southeast Christian Church, he also retired after 34 years from IBM as a Field Engineering Specialist. Joseph was an Assistant Scout Master with Boy Scout Troop #375 for many years. His favorite hobby was wood working, which was handed down to him from his father.
He was born on November 4, 1926 in Waynesville, NC to the late Raymond and Ruby Wilson. He is also preceded in death by his Wife of 69 years, Dorothy Ann "Dot" Funkhouser Wilson; brothers, R.L. and Henry; sisters, Polly and Virginia; great grandchild, Evelyn.
Joseph is survived by his son, Tommy Wilson (Pat); daughter, Robin Higdon (Monty); grandchildren, George Hammerbeck (Loraine), Mike Johnson, Scott Wilson (Angie), Chris Higdon (Brittany), Andrea Murphy; great-grandchildren, Sophia Hammerbeck, Jack Hammerbeck, Jaxon Wilson, Gavin Wilson, Tucker Higdon, Charleigh Higdon, Callen Murphy and Alivia Murphy; brother, George Wilson (Beverly) sister-in-laws, Jeanie Oliver (Bill), Hollie Buckner (Kenny), Wanda Kehrer (Terry), and Wanda Wilson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Due to current restrictions services will be private and Joseph will be laid to rest at Pennsylvania Run Cemetery.
