Joseph William Stumler

November 9, 1935 — April 24, 2020

Joseph William Stumler, 84, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Friday, April 24, 2020. Joe was a huge New Albany basketball fan and held season tickets since he graduated high school ("Go Dogs!"). He was also a faithful fan of the U of L "Cardinal Birds" and the Indy 500. He enjoyed spending time mowing and excelled in handyman work all the way to small engine repair. Above all of these passions, Joe will be remembered for his patience, his wisdom, and his overall sense of caring and compassion, which only made him a more amazing father to his 4 children.

He was born on November 9, 1935, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Charles and Mary Jacqumin Stumler. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Frances Virginia (Stamper) Stumler; and brother, Jack Stumler.

Joe is survived by his loving children, Bonnie (Marty) Shireman, Michael (Bonnie) Stumler, Roger (Aimee) Stumler, and Pam Smith; brother, Charles (Joyce) Stumler, Jr.; 10 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren with 1 on the way.

A Private Visitation and Funeral Service will be held at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Joe will be laid to rest next to his wife at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
